Thermostat help in Marietta
Thermostat not responding?
A blank screen or controls that won’t start the heating or cooling don’t necessarily mean you need a new thermostat. If there is gas odor, a CO alarm, smoke or immediate danger, leave the area and contact emergency services from safety.
Check settings, not wiring
If there are no immediate-danger signs, use the thermostat’s normal controls to check the operating mode. For cooling, the set temperature should be below the displayed room temperature; for heating, it should be above it. Check whether a schedule, away setting or hold is changing the temperature you selected.
If the thermostat uses homeowner-replaceable batteries, follow its user guide for the correct type and replacement procedure. Not every thermostat uses batteries; if the instructions are unclear, leave it for a provider.
Stop at settings and user-replaceable batteries. Don’t access wiring, electrical panels or equipment compartments, and don’t repeatedly reset the system to force it to run.
What happens when you adjust it?
These observations help a provider decide what to assess. The thermostat is one part of the system—not proof of where the fault is.
01
The screen stays blank
Note when the display went dark and whether heating or cooling stopped at the same time. A blank display can involve the thermostat or its power supply elsewhere in the system.
02
Settings keep changing
Note whether the selected temperature changes on a schedule or after you adjust it. Tell the provider which schedule, away or hold settings you checked using the normal controls.
03
The system won’t respond
Describe whether nothing starts, the fan runs without heating or cooling, or operation starts and stops. The cause may be in the controls or elsewhere in the heating and cooling equipment, so assessment should come before replacement.

Get help beyond the settings
Continue to the external provider website to describe what the thermostat shows and how your heating or cooling responds. The provider confirms availability, scope and charges; continuing does not confirm an appointment. We connect homeowners with independent local HVAC providers.
